How long do gel nails and gel polish last, and when should you book maintenance?
A manicure grows out with the natural nail. That means wear is not only about whether product is still attached: regrowth, length, daily impact and the balance of the structure also matter.
Is the colour still attached but the set no longer looks fresh?
Often that is simply regrowth. Product can still adhere well while more natural nail becomes visible and the original balance gradually moves forward.
How long can gel polish look neat?
Gel polish on natural nails can stay attractive for several weeks, but visible regrowth develops during that time and varies from person to person.
Hand work, cleaning products, frequent water exposure, using nails as tools and natural growth can all affect how long the result looks neat.
What about gel or acrylic extensions?
A structured set grows forward too. The highest point of the architecture shifts, so maintenance matters even if nothing has broken yet.
Do not wait only for a nail to lift or snap. Regular maintenance allows length and structure to be balanced again.
Why does ElviGlow use a four-week refill limit?
A refill up to four weeks costs €55 at ElviGlow. This gives a clear boundary for maintenance of an existing set.
After more than four weeks we plan a new set because there is more regrowth and the previous structure needs fuller reassessment.
How can you keep nails looking good at home?
Do not use nails to pry open cans, labels or hard edges. Wear gloves for prolonged cleaning and do not pull lifted product away from the natural nail.
If you notice lifting, pain or a crack, contact the salon rather than trying to glue or file the area without knowing what is happening underneath.
When should you come back earlier?
Book earlier if several nails lift, a crack appears, the length becomes impractical or the natural nail feels uncomfortable.
A regular schedule helps, but the actual condition of the set matters more than the calendar alone.

Is four weeks ideal for everyone?
No. Growth and daily wear vary. Four weeks is ElviGlow's refill-price limit, not a guarantee that every set should be worn for exactly that time.
Can gel polish last longer than three weeks?
It can, but regrowth and the condition of the natural nail determine whether waiting longer still looks and feels right.
Can I glue down lifting myself?
It is better not to. A lifted area can trap moisture or debris and should be assessed properly.
What happens after four weeks?
At ElviGlow the appointment is planned as a new set rather than a standard refill.

ElviGlow is not a large salon. It is a private home-based treatment studio in Deventer, where visits are one-to-one and only one client is seen at a time. The treatment-room door remains closed during the appointment. There are no walk-ins; location details are confirmed when booking.
